Talking to MIA Russia Today news agency on August 6, Assistant to the Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma Igor Novoselov affirmed that Vietnam’s current S-300 system will be replaced with S-400, dubbed SA-21 Glowler by NATO, in the near future.
S-400 can shoot down targets at both low and high altitudes, and cover a large area, he added.
Igor Novoselov noted that Russia is maintaining military and technical cooperation effectively with Vietnam – a strategic partner in Southeast Asia.
Russia has signed contracts to build two Gepard 3.9 frigates and six Kilo-class submarines for Vietnam.
